Dog allegedly stolen in landlord dispute

Marion County, Ore. — Unable to fight back the tears, Katelin Taylor wonders how it came to this. Her whippet, Isis, was allegedly stolen Wednesday morning near Turner, Oregon.

“She is a fantastic, fantastic dog and absolutely holds my heart,” said Katelin.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said Rose Mary Kempton, who also goes by Brooke, is responsible.

Katelin said that without warning, she was told this past weekend to move out of a home owned by Kempton. She did just that, but the drama didn’t stop there.

Katelin said, “I heard a knock at the front door.” Kevin Taylor, Katelin’s father said, “Saw an F250 parked here and it was Brooke at the gate.” Isis went running to the gate.

Kevin said, “She started screaming at me saying that my daughter Kate had taken her saddle and then she scooped up our dog Isis, threw her in the car.”

That’s when Kevin jumped on the trucks running board. He says Kempton sped off, “I got thrown off with the vehicle. I ended up out in the driveway out here just laying on my side, screaming, in so much pain.”

Kevin suffered rib, hip, and shoulder contusions. Katelin said, “To just leave him there, obviously she has no respect for human life.”

Isis has yet to be found. “I just really want my dog back. I’m ready for all of this to be over and I just want my dog back,”

Sheriff’s deputies say so far, they’ve been unable to locate Kempton.
