Oregon City police said the 37-year-old driver hit a gas pump around 3:45 Monday morning, igniting a fire.
The driver then ran onto a nearby highway, where he was hit by a minivan and died.
Two gas pumps were destroyed when they ignited, but firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.
