Grants Pass, Ore., — A sweet birthday surprise for a regular customer at one Dutch Bros location in Grants Pass.

Emma Ice walks to the Dutch Bros across from her work, every single day, she says the employees have become like family.

But for her, the walk is more difficult than most.

Emma Ice has cerebral palsy and though she’s fully independent, she needs a little help to walk.

“I just need support to walk, walls, benches, sticks, railing of any sort.”

She goes there so often, the employees have grown to know and love her.

“Emma is so amazing, and so lovable and loves us.”

They love her so much, that for her birthday they decided to make her daily commute just a little bit easier, by building a ramp.

“We thought how can we make her life just a little bit easier, for us it was a couple hours and nothing more than we do on the weekends.”

For Emily, this small act is a giant help for her.

“It would affect so much, it would make the risk of falling so much less and I haven’t fallen yet but today my foot got stuck.”

There’s just one problem, the “Grants Pass Shopping Center” owners say the homemade ramp isn’t up to code.

“When the kids did that for her, of course that didn’t cross their mind that it could be a liability.”

So the ramp had to be removed, but now the two are working together to make one that is up to code, and permanent.

“We already have our team on it and we got in contact with the owners today and they agreed to help us do it.”

Ice says the best part is it won’t just help her, but others too.

“Just that one step that Dutch Brothers did yesterday opened up so many doors for everybody else.”

They plan to start work on the permanent ramp as soon as possible and the center is splitting the cost with them.
