Eagle Point car show honors alum, supports students

Eagle Point, Ore. — Hundreds of people came out to Eagle Point High School today, to honor the memory of an alum and support current students in a unique way.

The “Thomas Ussary Memorial Car and Motorcycle Show” ran from 8 to 2 this afternoon. The car show started 13 years ago, to honor Thomas Ussary, an alum who died in a car accident.

His father, Mike Ussary, has been helping at the event every year since.

“It it’s a legacy or a memorial that my son started, or his, happiness, easygoing personality, and it’s just continued on and continued on, and the community comes out here to support the kids,” said Ussary

Every year, the event is put on by students in the “Skills USA” program at the school.

A number of the students compete at the state, national, and world level in the vocational program. The car show helps them raise money for their competitions.
