Electronic sign ordinance needs more work

Eagle Point, Ore. — Electronic signs still aren’t allowed in Eagle Point, this after the city council tonight sent the bill back to the planning commission.

The city council did that to make it more inclusive to the businesses in Eagle Point.

Originally, the text would have only allowed signs at only a few places in the city, like the high school.

“I think the conversation should be expanded to a ordinance that benefits, practically, a larger pool of businesses within the city,” commented Councilor Ruth Jenks

The issue was brought to the council after Eagle Point High School students raised thousands of dollars to buy an electronic sign for the school.

The planning commission will bring the issue up at its next meeting.
