Excavator strikes gas line near Klamath Falls

Klamath Falls, Ore. – Crews just north of Klamath Falls worked to stop a natural gas leak Thursday afternoon.
An excavator was reportedly digging along Highway 97 at milepost 272 near the weigh station when it hit a natural gas line.
As a result, the highway was temporarily closed, backing up traffic for about a mile in both directions.
Gas could be smelled at the scene, but the wind helped to disperse it.
