Junction City, Ore. (KEZI) — A blast near a patrol car sent police into high alert in Junction City, Oregon and left two officers with concussion like symptoms.
Spence Slater with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said, “When something like that goes off, once it’s over and you’re grateful to be alive you know you really don’t know how close it is. Once we get into it we’ll know where it was set off, we’ll know how close they were and then we will charge that crime appropriately.”
The officers were patrolling a neighborhood when they felt the blast and suspected they were under attack. That’s when the two called in reinforcements.
Investigators did not find any bullet holes but there was an indication that a bomb-like device did go off.
The officers are okay. The case remains under investigation.
