Facebook launches new cross-platform payment system

MENLO PARK, Calif. (NBC) – Facebook is launching a new payment system, called Facebook Pay.

It will be available for use on Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook messenger.

The service is designed to facilitate payments across the company’s social networks and apps.

You can send money to friends, shop for goods, buy event tickets, or donate to fundraisers.

Facebook Pay will be separate from the company’s planned Calibra wallet and Libra digital currency network.
