Fatal accident on Corey Road in Central Point

Update (03/28 11:50am) — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the female pedestrian who was struck and killed has been identified as 46-year-old Deanna Gonzalez Byrd. They say Byrd was walking with another person, when she was hit by a Dodge pickup truck. Deputies say the other person was intoxicated, and was taken to detox. Their name has not been released.


 

The driver of the truck has also not been identified. The investigation is ongoing.

Central Point, Ore — Corey Road was closed at Crater Lake Highway after a vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian.

Oregon State Police and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Jackson County Medical Examiner and members of the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction team are investigating the crash.

The call came in just before 8:30 Saturday night.

Names are not being released at this time as it’s still early in the investigation.
