Fire in N. California estimated to be 50 acres in size

KLAMATH NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – A wildfire that started in Northern California is under investigation.

The U.S. Forest Service said the Elk Fire started Sunday in rugged terrain southeast of Happy Camp, California.

CAL FIRE responded with a helicopter and fire crews that are working on building a line around the fire, which was estimated to be about 50 acres Monday afternoon.

Investigators are still trying to figure out how the fire started.
