Firefighters save nearly a dozen homes near Grants Pass


Grants Pass, Ore. – An outbuilding and car were lost in a fire that burned along Fish Hatchery Road, south of Grants Pass.

According to the Oregon Department of Forestry, crews responded to the Turtle Lane Fire around 1:30 Monday afternoon. Nearly a dozen homes were threatened by the fire.

Crews quickly got the upper hand on the blaze using ground and air crews. Firefighters said the homes were saved, but one outbuilding and car were destroyed.

ODF said the fire burned a total of 3.75 acres. Turtle Lane and Fish Hatchery Road will be closed until crews finish working on the narrow roadway.
