Florida burglar takes a beating

NC_beating0628_1500x845North Port, Fla. (WFLA) — A man who broke into a Florida home had to run away after he was beaten by his victims with his own weapon.

Last week, Noah Dassat, 33, broke into the home and attacked the residents.

After the father was hit, he managed to wrestle Dassat and put him in a ‘bear hug,’ detectives said. His wife grabbed Dassat’s bat and beat him with his own weapon.

Three children were in the home at the time of the break-in.

Dassat escaped, running away from the house with significant injuries and without his hat and bat, according to police.

While investigating the case, North Port Police were contacted about a man with head injuries at a Port Charlotte hospital. He matched the description of the suspect and was arrested.

He is in the Charlotte County jail and is being held without bond.

“They were terrified and they did what they could to protect the kids and themselves,” neighbor Sherri Mitchell said.
