Former mental health councilor sentenced for sex crimes

Dewayne Sandle-Carnell SentencingGrants Pass, Ore. — The Josephine County District Attorney’s Office says former Kairos counselor Dewayne Sandle-Carnell was sentenced on Monday morning for 4 counts of sexual abuse in the 2nd degree.

Sandle-Carnell was fired and arrested last year after he allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old patient at the facility. He now faces thirty days in jail for three of those counts, with three years of supervised probation, and sex offender registration.

The fourth count includes a 25 to 30 month prison sentence if he violates his probation.

Sandle-Carnell will serve his 90 days in jail consecutively at the Josephine County Jail.
