Former RCC security guard convicted on weapon charges

hollinsheadGrants Pass, Ore. — A former security guard who claimed she was assaulted on the Rogue Community College campus, is facing her own criminal sentence.

39-year-old Cave Junction woman Venis Hollinshead claimed that in July of 2014 a man hit her in the head while she was patrolling the RCC campus in Grants Pass.

She fired three shots, but a jury and officers didn’t believe Hollinshead’s story. The guard had turned off her body camera just moments before firing.

In July, the Grants Pass Daily Courier reported Hollinshead was convicted on two felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

A judge took away Hollinshead’s gun, sentenced her to 10 days in jail and then to a work release program.
