Four arrested after vehicle pursuit in Curry County

0713 Curry County drugsCurry County, Ore. – Police have arrested four suspects following a vehicle pursuit in Curry County.

According to the Curry County Sheriff’s Department, on Tuesday a citizen in Port Orford said he witnessed a stolen vehicle out of Medford near Hamlet Street. An initial search of the area for the vehicle was unsuccessful.

The next day, deputies said police in Gold Beach told them they had seen the stolen vehicle driving through the city around 9:30 a.m.

Curry County deputies say they spotted the vehicle 30 minutes later on Jerry’s Flat Road near the Old Mill Site. The driver, later identified as Robert Aldridge, was the only occupant.

The vehicle, described as a white 1999 Chevy Blazer, sped away from police once a pursuit was initiated.

Deputies said they were able to follow the vehicle’s tracks in a gravel road and eventually came across Warren Halcumb and Heather Wainscott, who both denied knowing anything about the stolen Chevy Blazer. They also denied knowing Zachery Clough, who was associated with the stolen vehicle.

According to police, a short time later the stolen Chevy Blazer was located and Aldridge was taken into custody without incident.

30 minutes after Aldridge’s arrest, the CCSD said Wainscott and Halcumb were taken into custody for a probation violation. Clough was also taken into custody. He was found to be in the possession of 18 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, and a small amount of cash.

According to deputies, an investigation determined Wainscott and Halcumb had assisted Clough in hiding from police. They were taken into custody and charged with hindering prosecution. Wainscott received additional charges after she was found with meth.

Deputies said both Clough and Aldridge were charged for unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Booking photos of the suspects were not made available by the Curry County Sheriff’s Office.
