Gap fire grows, mandatory evacuations lifted

gapfirecrewSeiad Valley, Cal.- The Gap Fire near Seiad Valley, California has grown to 9,820 acres. More than 1,100 firefighters and crew members are working around the clock to contain the fire.

According to federal fire crews, the Gap Fire continues to spread south toward Highway 96 and north in the area of White Cloud Mountain.

All mandatory evacuations were lifted Tuesday and have been reduced to advisories.

One way controlled traffic is in place on Highway 96 in Horse Creek, and delays should be expected.

A public fire information meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 31 at the Scott Bar Community Hall at 6:00 p.m.
