Gap Fire grows to over 17,000 acres

0901 Gap Fire perimeterSeiad Valley, Calif. — Crews are hoping cooler temperatures will help efforts fighting the more than 17,000-acre Gap Fire in Northern California.

There are no longer any mandatory evacuation notices. However, evacuation advisories are still in effect. That means people in the Scott Bar, Hamburg, and Horse Creek communities have to be ready to leave if the fire shifts.

Nine homes have been destroyed by the fire, which is 8% contained.
