Good news in sight for Blind George’s

Grants Pass, Ore., — An iconic store in Grants Pass may be getting a second shot at life.

NBC5 first told you last week Blind George’s Newsstand was in danger of closing.

Owner Jack Smith says some good news has definitely come their way, all thanks to the community.

Smith says the building the store is located in is being sold, and the potential buyer wanted an empty building.

Which means the store would have to close or move locations.

Blind George’s had one week to either raise the money to buy the location, or find another buyer who would let them stay in the building.

Now it looks like their wish may have come true, as another buyer has stepped in.

“So far we’ve been told that there are negotiations in the works, and that the odds are we’re gonna be staying here. And that’s all we know at the moment.”

Smith says they don’t know when they will find out if the deal has been finalized, but they’re crossing their fingers.

Smith also says he is overwhelmed with the amount of support the store has received from the community.
