Columbus, Ohio – Ohio Governor John Kasich has announced he is suspending his campaign on Wednesday.
The decision comes one day after he finished in a distant third place behind Donald Trump and Ted Cruz on Tuesday’s Indiana Primary. Campaign aides said at the time the Kasich would remain in the race, even after rival Ted Cruz had suspended his campaign.
Kasich’s single primary victory was his home state of Ohio. He remained in the race even after it became mathematically impossible for him to win, arguing that no Republican candidate would earn a majority of the delegates ahead of the Republican convention.
