Grants Pass gets visitors from Russia

Grants Pass, Ore., — Grants Pass has some visitors from Russia this month. It’s part of their sister city program.

Rubtsovsk, is in Russia near Sibera.

Today the group of high school students sat in on a Grants Pass City Council workshop.

They also spent a few days visiting Hidden Valley High School, and seeing the sites.

The sister city program has been going since 1990 and have had more than 50 exchanges.

“I think it’s really great to travel all around the world, and I like that I have these great opportunity to visit your country.” said one student, Olga Surkova.

The students will be in the Rogue Valley until the end of the month.

NBC5 News Weekend anchor and reporter Nicole Stein was born and raised in Orange County, California.

She graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Mass Communications. While at Arizona State, Nicole was a reporter for Cronkite News on Arizona PBS8 and interned for three local radio stations.

When she isn’t reporting, Nicole enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as dancing, reading and traveling.
