Grants Pass historic district could expand

Grants Pass, Ore. — Grants Pass is considering making some big changes to its downtown core.

The city’s planning commission is debating whether or not to expand it’s downtown historic district from two blocks to 15!

The move would mean buildings within the new boundaries will have an easier time making changes that are more streamlined with the historic and charming look — something that business owners love about the area.

“Just being part of grants pass and being part of this street alone is really special,” said Rita Koziara of Rita Limited Edition.

“The intent of the historic expansion is not only to save that character for downtown but to make it easier,” said Director of Community Development Lora Glover.

The new review procedure has been drafted up and will go before the Urban Area Planning Commission in January.

The historic expansion will be reviewed by the city council in mid-march.
