Griffin Creek students Christmas shop for homeless kids

Medford, Ore. — A group of local kids got into the holiday spirit today by doing a little shopping.

Griffin Creek Elementary students set out at South Medford’s Walmart Wednesday to buy presents for kids who are homeless.

For two years the students have been acting as Santa’s little helpers. Every student brings money then Student Council members get to shop for the gifts. This year they raised $700 nearly doubling last year’s donations.

“I feel very fortunate and I’m sad they don’t get to have all the stuff I get to have and I’m happy I get to do that for them,” fourth grader Addison Bellm said.

The students raised enough money to buy gifts for 24 kids from the Maslow Project. On top of it all Walmart also donated $200 that will go to the Maslow Project as well.
