Gunman kills at least 8 at Russian university, authorities say

PERM, Russia (NBC) – Eight people are dead and more than 20 others are injured after a shooting at a university in central Russia. It happened at Perm State University Monday.

According to the university, a gunman entered the campus and began opening fire at people on the street.

Officials say 28 people were injured. Some of them were hospitalized with various injuries.

The gunman was later detained.

He has not been identified, although officials say he is known to authorities.
