Habitat for Humanity dedicates two new homes

Medford, Ore., — Two families are in bright and shiny, brand new homes today, just in time for Christmas.

“You can’t beat it. This is the best Christmas present ever.

I mean it’s the best gift i could get for Christmas, couldn’t ask for anything else.”

After three years on the Habitat For Humanity family list, Isabel Cortez and her three kids are able to move out of her parents house, and into one of their own.

“I’m so happy,  I’m so blessed. Like I have a new home for my family, and my kids, they have their own bedrooms now.” said Cortez.

The same goes for April Neill and her special needs son.

“I’m really excited, very nervous. I didn’t sleep at all last night, I was tossing and turning thinking about what was going to happy today.”

Neill says it didn’t come easy — the recipients contributed as well — working hard to make their dreams a reality.

“It was a long, hard process. Blood, sweat and tears, and I mean sweat.”

Both single moms, the new neighbors have a lot to do before they can officially move in.

But both agree — there are no words for the amount of gratitude they are feeling.

“I can’t put it into words what it means to me and my son. So we’re really excited and I was trying to keep it together, but that did not happen.” said Neill.

“I was so emotional, I couldn’t wait for this day. Like I said it was 3 years, but it was so worth it. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it. Doesn’t matter how long i’d have to wait.” said Cortez.
