Hazmat crews deployed after accident on I-5

Josephine County, Ore. – All lanes of I-5 were closed early Sunday morning after a semi-truck crashed while trying to avoid a wrong-way driver.

The Oregon State Police said the accident occurred around 2:45 just north of Grants Pass.

According to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, a woman was driving a van southbound in the northbound lanes of I-5 when the crash occurred.

Troopers said the semi was carrying hydrochloric acid, and a small leak was stopped by hazmat crews from Medford.

Medford Fire-Rescue said that the woman was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
