Hiker dies after fall on Mt. Shasta

Mt. Shasta, Calif. – A hiker died after police say he fell from a location on Mount Shasta late Sunday night.

According to the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, on July 3rd around 11:30 p.m., Cal Fire received a report of a man who reportedly fell near Clear Creek Trail, about 10,000 feet up the mountain.

Deputies say the man died at the scene in the early morning hours of July 4th. He was with a family member at the time of his death.

The SCSO said the deceased man was transported from the location by a California Highway Patrol Helicopter.

Siskiyou County Sheriff John Lopey said, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the climber, his family, and friends in the aftermath of this tragic incident.”

The Siskyou County Sheriff’s Office has not released the identify of the deceased hiker.
