Hit and run in White City

White City, Ore., — A hit and run in White City on Saturday night left one woman in critical condition and police with no leads.

“Heard the sound of something, we thought maybe an animal had been hit or something.”

Mike Soule and his family were eating dinner on Saturday night when a car came sliding from the road right onto their driveway.

“When we came out there was someone laying in the middle of the road.”

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a car struck a 45-year-old woman walking in the street on the 3200 block of Antelope Road, then fled the scene.

“When we came out there was a car sitting there but he took off.”

Leaving the woman in serious condition.

“She wasn’t moving. It’s kind of numbing you know, you just go into the mode of taking care of business.”

Tonight — police are actively looking for the driver — but have no leads at this time.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the woman was in surgery today and may be transported to OHSU in Portland.
