Home owner feels violated after burglar entered her Downtown Medford home

Medford, Ore.–   In their 40 years living in the heart of downtown, Carol Phelps and her husband never imagined what they woke up to Monday. “We felt very violated as they say. We woke up to noises we didn’t realize what was going on and discovered a young man broke into our house.”

Medford Police said Jeremiah Hiscock went on quite the burglary adventure Monday morning. He tried to break into the Jackson Creek Pizza Company, was unsuccessful there and then made his way over to the Jackson County Republicans office, which Phelps also owns.

Police said Hiscock made his way up to the roof. He then broke a sky light. Used a hose to get down. Then was stuck inside the building so he used a chair to break the glass door and get out.
Phelps said it was just before that, that Hiscock entered her home through her patio that faces the Middleford Alley.

“We came downstairs and there he was acting really wild and smashed out the window,” said Phelps.

Phelps said she is feeling thankful nobody was hurt but is now left to pay the price of someone else’s actions.

“Several thousands of dollars of damage. You can see it from below it goes down into the republican building.”

Hiscock took off with some of Phelps’ money, gift cards, and keys but they were able to arrest him right outside the Jackson County Republican’s office and recovered the stolen items.

He’s now facing several charges including four counts of burglary.
