Hwy 62 bypass could start in May

62 corridorMedford, Ore. — The ground breaking for the 4-mile-long bypass for Highway 62 could start as soon as May.

The Oregon Department of Transportation says the bid from North Dakota-based company Knife River, which has a plant in Central Point, will likely be awarded.

The company bid $30,500,000 for the project. Before awarding the contract officially, ODOT will look over the bid to make sure it meets the qualifications

ODOT is hoping the Highway 62 bypass will help alleviate congestion on Crater Lake Highway. The new project will also provide sidewalks and other transit related enhancements.
