Salem, Ore. — Federal investigators say Union Pacific Railroad is to blame for an oil train derailment earlier this month in the Columbia River Gorge
The oil train derailed back on June 3rd, spilling 42,000 gallons of crude oil and sparking a fire.
In an initial report, the government asks why Union Pacific didn’t detect the broken bolts that caused the accident when they inspected the tracks right before the derailment.
