Jackson County to offer text-to-911 service in 2017

MJ FAKE 911

Jackson County, Ore.- Jackson County is not among the Oregon counties beginning text-to-911 services this week, however Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon is working to implement the service.

The service allows those in need of emergency help to text in their request, rather than making a phone call. The service is meant for people who can’t speak in an emergency, it is not a replacement for regular emergency calls.

Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon hopes to bring the service to Jackson County in the first quarter of 2017.
