John Kipp’s attorney wants bail lowered

Medford, Ore., — Attorneys for a man involved in a wrong way I-5 crash back in March are asking for lower bail tonight.

62-year-old John Edward Kipp was charged with DUII, reckless driving and assault back in March, after police say he was driving the wrong way down I-5 and crashed into another car driven by 37-year-old Veteran Norman Anderson.

Both Kipp and Anderson were seriously injured in the crash, Kipp had a leg amputated and is now in a wheelchair.

His attorney says that’s not the only issue, Kipp is dying.

One of Kipp’s cousins is offering housing for him in Grants Pass, if bail is lowered and he is released.

But Jackson County District Attorneys say Kipp is a flight risk, and has another warrant in Washington County.

For now, bail will not be lowered, until a decision is made on the pending warrant.
