Josephine Co. public health offers free cervical and breast cancer screenings

0329 Breast CancerJosephine County, Ore. — Some women over the age of 21 can get free breast and cervical cancer screenings in Josephine County.

Women without health insurance or single women that make less than approximately $29,000 annually qualify for the free screenings.

Jenny Kowalczyk, a women’s health nurse with Josephine County says that cervical and breast cancer can hit women at any stage in life. She said, “That’s our job at the Public Health Department, to make sure everyone has equal access. Everyone should have the opportunity to screen for cervical and breast cancer and catch it early and get treated early.”
