July employment numbers better than expected

Washington, D.C. (NBCNC) – There is good news to report today on the employment front.

The Labor Department says employers added some 209,000 workers in the month of July.

That’s well above the project 183,000  jobs that was predicted.

It drops the unemployment rate to 4.3%.

Growth in Americans’ paychecks, however, remains slow.

Average hourly pay rose by 2.5% from a year earlier, the same annual pace as in June.
