Klamath husband/wife legislators withdraw reelection bids

Klamath County, Ore. – Two Oregon State Legislators withdrew at the last second for re-election.

Husband and wife Doug and Gail Whitsett made their decision official in a press release. They cite political fatigue in light of the two most recent legislative sessions as a reason for withdrawal.

Doug, who is a State Senator for District 28, and Gail, who is a State Representative for District 56, now leave the path clear for two other candidates who filed just before Tuesday’s deadline. That’s former Klamath County Commissioner Dennis Linthicum, and businessman Werner Reshke.

The Whitsetts will serve the remainder of their terms, which will expire at the end of this year.0310 whitsett press release
