Lake County, Ore. – Early Wednesday morning, Oregon State Police responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 140 E 2 miles east of Lakeview.
Troopers said a preliminary investigation revealed a Peterbilt log truck was traveling westbound on the highway behind a separate Kenworth log truck. The Peterbilt truck caught fire going down the hill and ran into the back of the Kenworth, causing both vehicles to lose control and crash.
OSP said the driver of the Peterbilt, 60-year-old Douglas McClain of Lakeview, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kenworth was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
