Layoffs at Erickson Air Crane Inc.

0824 Erickson Air CraneCentral Point, Ore. –KOBI-TV NBC5 has confirmed Erickson Air Crane laid off approximately 100 workers this quarter. The company would not say how many of those employees were based in southern Oregon, although an employee who spoke to KOBI-TV NBC5 estimated as many as 60 local workers would lose their jobs.

Erickson is based out of Portland. It was started in 1971 in Central Point. The company has had financial difficulties over the last few years. The Oregonian reported earlier this month that the aircraft company owes Wells Fargo $140 million. The paper obtained a letter from the company’s CEO announcing ten percent of Erickson’s 800 employees will be laid off, with a focus on management positions.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Erickson’s stop had fallen to .48 per share, down from $2.19 per share at the beginning of 2016.
