San Antonio, Tx. — A very devoted little fan of the San Antonio Rampage Hockey Team is the subject of an internet meme. It shows the boy in a hospital bed. It reads, “I do not always take a puck to the head and get three staples, but when I do, I tell the doctor to hurry so I can get back to see the Rampage win.”
James Evans does not like sitting on the sidelines, and at Sunday night’s Rampage game, he got in on the action.
James can be seen on cell phone video fist bumping with a hockey player. Then he was struck in the head by a hockey puck. David Evans, James’ father said, “Unfortunately, one of the other players down on the other side – one of the stars players, we won’t hold it against him – but sometimes it comes over the glass.”
James said, “Whoo! One of the star players – wham! Right into the head… right there.”
His dad says that James didn’t like being benched one bit, telling the doctors, “put me in coach!” inspiring a meme that’s being shared around the hockey world.
David Evans said, “We knew he was going to be okay when he said he wanted to go back and see them. Luckily we got back just in time that they had two minutes left to play.”
Like James, the Rampage persevered, to win in overtime.
