Local graduate picked in NFL draft

TYRONE PICAshland, Ore. — An Eagle Point High School graduate is now heading to Florida, to play in the National Football League.

Today, Tyrone Holmes was picked in the 6th round by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Holmes says he was surrounded by his parents and a few close friends when he got the call.

“They said, ‘how would I like to be a Jacksonville Jaguar, are you excited about it?’ And they were asking me, they were telling me that they didn’t bring me in for no reason, ’cause I went on a trip there two weeks ago and they said obviously it was for a good reason, and now I couldn’t be more excited to go down there and get to work with those guys.”

He started playing football in the 7th grade, and continued into college at the University of Montana.
he’ll be in Jacksonville to start training with the team on Wednesday.
