Ashland, Ore. — NBC5 News first brought you the story of four-year -old Helen Lynn last year.
She became extremely ill from a dangerous strain of E-Coli putting her in need of a kidney transplant.
After two years of searching, an acquaintance Helen’s mother Lauren worked with in Alaska 13 years ago, Lori Moyer, volunteered to donate a kidney to Helen.
On the Facebook page “COTA for Helen L” Lauren says Helen is still adjusting to the new adult-sized kidney but seems to be improving.
Lauren says Helen has already started walking around.
The Lynns and Moyer went to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland for the surgery.
