ATM skimming device found at Rogue Credit Union drive throughs

Medford, Ore.– Rogue Credit Union became victim of a new ATM scam. “It’s shocking to see it in Medford I wouldn’t think it would be around here,” said Medford resident, Renee Maloney.

A skimming device that reads your credit and debit card information were found at the Medford and Central Point drive up ATM’s within the last month.

“Never having to deal with his before we were somewhat caught by surprise with it but we are actually putting counter measure in place to prevent this from happening again,” said CEO and President of RCU, Gene Pelham.

He said type of scam usually hits big cities. “They’ve come back and tried to hit the ATM machine more then once.”

Medford police said the suspects attached a square device that blends in very well to the top of the machine.

Once at the Meford branch and three times at the Central Point branch.

While this scam was stopped before it could have gotten worse.The bad guys are still out there.

Rogue Credit Union and MPD remind people to be very aware. “If you see something on a machine and it looks strange or it feels loose when you put your card in and you can pull it off, pull it off.”

Pelham saiD they caught the device in time at the Medford branch but that in Central Point 30 people were victims amounting to a loss of $40,000.
