Body found in Bear creek identified

Update (12/4 4:30pm) — The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body that was found in Bear Creek earlier this week as 46-year-old Steven Halverson from Phoenix.

Officials say Halverson was reported missing to Phoenix Police on August 27th.


 

Phoenix, Ore. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office say’s a pedestrian found the body of a man in Bear Creek south of Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon.

According to JCSO deputies and detectives the body was in a section of the creek that was not easily visible from the Greenway path due to heavy vegetation.

Officials say that while the condition of the body indicated the man’s death was not recent, they have made a tentative identification and are in contact with family members. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm the man’s identity and determine the cause of death.
