Police haven’t been able to identify a body found in an irrigation canal near Tulelake.
The badly decomposed body was found around noon Tuesday floating in a ditch near Scott Road and Osborne Road.
The man that discovered the body, Scott Stonecypher, said “I thought it was styrofoam – we get garbage down the ditch occasionally, some carcasses, like a dead sheep, or stuff like that – but that’s simple to recognize. But this was totally different.”
Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey says the death is *not* being investigated as a homicide at this time.
