Brutal murder in Ashland remains unsolved three years later

Ashland, Ore. — It’s been three years since an Ashland murder that shocked a community and a country. It’s a murder that remains unsolved.

A memorial still stands where someone nearly decapitated 23 year old David Grubbs back on November 19, 2011.

The brutal crime happened just as the sun started setting on the Ashland bike path near Hunter Park and Walker Elementary School.

Police say while there are no new leads and no suspects in custody, they do continue to receive tips.

“It’s frustrating. That’s exactly why police officers get into this line of business. We want to catch people, especially murderers…To know that we’re still looking for somebody and actively working this, it’s frustrating,” said Corey Falls, the Deputy Chief for the Ashland Police Department.
