Bybee fire burning in Crater Lake National Park

CLP_Bybee Creek_20160728_1800(reduced)Ore.  — A 50 acre fire is burning in Crater Lake National Park.

The US Forest Service says the so-called Bybee fire was discovered Thursday on the west side of the park along the Pacific Crest Trail. By 10 p.m. Thursday night the fire had spread to about 50 acres with no containment. The trail is closed to the public right now.

Crews are busy trying to get the fire from spreading. The park remains open and the Britt performances will continue as planned.
