Community remembers Medford teacher

KatieMedford, Ore. — A local teacher was killed in a car accident near Susanville, east of Redding on Saturday, December 19th.

According to her obituary 31-year-old Hedrick science teacher, Katie MacDiarmid, had a great love for the outdoors which she shared with her students.

MacDiarmid graduated from St. Mary’s High School and earned her master’s degree in environmental education at Southern Oregon University.

Katie is survived by her parents, brother numerous friends. A memorial service was held on December 26th at the Ashland First Congregational United Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to BECA Schools (www.becaschools.org) or Klamath Siskiyou Wildlands Center in Ashland (www.kswild.org).
