Construction on welcome center for I-5 begins

640x360_21127P00-GDDAVAshland, Ore. — The next phase of work on a future welcome center off of I-5 begins Monday.

Construction on the I-5 Siskiyou Rest Area and Welcome Center began in 2015. The next portion of the project beginning Monday includes crews retaining a wall, south of Crowson Road in Ashland.

Following that, work on ramps and roads for the welcome center will begin. O-Dot says the road will be reduced to one lane, and flaggers will be directing traffic in the area.

This phase of the project will likely continue through February.
