DeBoer, other elected officials to be sworn in Monday morning

Medford, Ore. — Oregon’s newly elected officials are traveling to Salem this weekend, before being officially sworn in Monday morning.

Senator Alan DeBoer met with NBC5 News before he left town, to talk about the ceremony. He said it’s just the beginning to a long process.

“I look forward to the work starting, and it’s a little intimidating,” DeBoer said.”I must say, it’s pretty awesome to walk into the capitol, it’s an amazing facility, but we have big challenges in Oregon.”

DeBoer considers some of those challenges to be finding new revenue, balancing the budget, and making education and health care top priorities.

DeBoer will be sworn in Monday morning at 9 AM, at the state capitol. He’ll be there for most of the week for introductory meetings.

The legislative session will begin on February first, and could last into July this year.
