DJ Hype Arrested On Forgery Charges

DJ Hype is known for playing music on Medford’s hot 98.9.

But the man behind the music who’s real name is Romanito Lloyd Salvador is now behind barscharged with manufacturing counterfeit cash.

“It’s crazy I cant believe it.”

Back in August Medford Police served a search warrant at Salvador’s home in West Medford. They were looking for meth but found the fake money and Salvador wasn’t there.

One of Salvador’s neighbors didn’t want to reveal his identity but says he knew something was going on.

‘I’ve seen a lot of traffic at his home i’m not surprised.”

Weeks after serving the search warrantofficers with the Medford Area Gang and Drug Enforcement Team arrested the 34-year-old Thursday.

They say they found him wearing this blonde wig walking near 11th and Lincoln.

Booked now on ten counts of first degree forgery and facing the possibility of federal charges.

Lieutenant Brett Johnson says manufacturing money is rare in the Rogue Valley but the crime is on the rise.

“Lately we’ve seen a lot more recently so its certainly something we’re glad to get our hands on.”

Investigators say at least one of Salvador’s bills was used at an area business.. and they’re looking for more.

Either way they say– it’s not easy money.

“It may seem easy but eventually it’s going to get caught.”

As of Wednesday night DJ Hype’s picture could still be seen on 98.9’S website.

The owner of Opus Broadcasting had no comment.
