Ashland, Ore. — The sport of rowing is becoming more popular nationwide, and people in the Rogue Valley are getting in on the fun.
Sunday morning dozens of adults tried their hand at the sport during a “Learn to Row” event at Ashland Rowing Club near Emigrant Lake.
Although it was too windy to go out on the water participants learned the language of the sport, became familiar with the equipment, and practiced technique.
“It was a little challenging getting the mechanics of your body, bending over, keeping your arms straight, turning the oar,” participant Liesje Blank said.
